Magnum Mallard
When you hold this striking 16" gunning decoy in your hands you are transported back 50 or 75 years to the era of hand crafted wooden duck decoys. Yet it you think this beauty is going to cost you performance on the marsh you are wrong! The carver chiseled out material from the bottom to keep the weight down to about 1.75 lbs each. The resulting concave bottom has proven to ride solid in fair winds or high seas. The standard wood keel is notched to accept a lead strap should the decoy owner desire a self righting bird. The Autumn Wings Logo is proudly burned onto the side of each keel. A very lightweight type of kiln dried bass wood is coated with linseed oil as a preservative and for the hand brushed oil paints to be absorbed deep into the wood grain. In addition to ruggedizing the finish this technique results in a most realistic "feather sheen". Properly set glass eyes complete the traditional, yet realistic look. Four different poses are available painted as hens or drakes.

Magnum Black Duck
Black ducks are rare visitors to the Mississippi flyway so always consider harvesting one to be a memorable occasion. The Eastern flyway have a huntable population but the trophy status is still in order due to the wariness and caution these ducks exhibit when working your duck decoys. If blacks do frequent your hunting area, even occasionally, adding some of black duck decoys to your mallard rig will not only help improve your odds with the blacks but other species as well. Blacks make an effective confidence decoy, as it seems other species of ducks appreciate their wariness as much as hunters do. Seeing as how blacks are "cousins" to mallards black decoys are based the basswood shapes on the 4 mallard poses (standard, resting, sleeper, dabbler). The dimensions are a magnum sized 16" X 7" with weights of approximately 1.75 lbs each. The carver wisely compromised with an olive colored bill and does not distinguish black decoys as drake or hen. Hand applied oils over a linseed oil base coat result in a realistic feather finish that even wary Mr. Black will find hard to resist. The concave decoy bottom shape spanned by a pine keel offers a realistic ride. The 6" notch at the bottom rear of the keel accomodates a lead strap for self-righting ballast.

Magnum Bluebill
These "jets from the north" are favorites of diver hunters in every flyway. Large speedy flocks of bills over the duck decoys make lasting memories. Big water and large duck decoy spreads are the norm when hunting these late migrants. These hand carved wood decoys capture the essence of bluebill with a highly visible standard shape for recognition even in rough water, a contented resting pose, and a sleeper pose to convey confidence. These basswood bluebills are about 2X oversize (12" X 7") and weigh approximately 1.5 pounds each. Big water diver hunters will especially appreciate the way these decoys ride into the water. The realistic ride, a seemingly small detail, may prove to be a serious edge when hunting pressured birds that shy away from conventional decoy spreads. The linseed oil wood treatment followed by hand applied oil paints has serves well with for years of rugged service. The yellow eyes of both the drake and hen bluebill are a signature recognition element and emulated by using glass.
